These are some of the issues in which I’m interested beyond Precinct 8. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Town-wide

  • Walpole’s Recreation Department needs better programming. There is very little quality programming for adults, we have no fishing programs despite plenty of fishable waterways, and the Jarvis Farm site is a disaster.
  • Old Town Hall needs to be utilized. A comprehensive study was conducted

State-wide

The dysfunction at the State House is unacceptable. Nothing gets done and there is little transparency. A few examples:

  • By introducing high-stakes bills as late as possible, legislative leaders make it harder for dissenting voices to push for change before House and Senate negotiators craft and pass a final, compromised version of the legislation in question. WGBH
  • 2024 was hardly the first time the Legislature left important work to the final minute. Boston Globe
  • The toxic culture in the State House is a direct result of the speaker’s consolidated power. Nothing passes without his final say, as well as how representatives are punished and rewarded for going against his wishes. Commonwealth Beacon

I will be calling on our State House representatives, Rep. Paul McMurtry and Sen. Michael Rush, to display better leadership and work to fix what’s broken on Beacon Street.
